Sealants and Fluoride

Our back teeth have deep grooves, pits and fissures that collect food and bacteria. Because the pits are so narrow deep, food and bacteria get stuck in it that often a toothbrush or even a dental pick cannot reach the trapped food resulting in a cavity forming. Sealants fill the deep pits and keep the tooth smooth with the cavity-free surface. How sealants are done? The tooth is cleaned, polished and dried. Sealants are placed in the deep pits without drilling and without a shot. It’s an easy and cost-effective way for a cavity-free mouth. Topical Fluoride is applied to your teeth to help protect the teeth against decay. After the fluoride application, you should not drink or eat for 30 minutes to allow the fluoride to stay on your teeth for maximum benefit.
